Miami Bike Scene blogger Rydel Deed compiled this Top Ten Miami list of leisurely rides, charity toy drives, and grueling cyclocross races. If you have any events to add, leave a comment.

12/2 – 12/5Art Basel: Street. Art. Cycles Bicycle Tour

Coinciding with Art Basel, this ride goes through Wynwood’s outdoor “Primary Flight” exhibit.

12/5Everglades Bicycle Club Holiday Toy Ride

Taking off from Ponce de Leon Middle School in Coral Gables, the ride will raise money and collect toys for needy children in and around Miami. There is a $15 minimum donation (cash or check) or you can donate a new, unwrapped toy.

12/5KID Inlet Challenge

A charity ride in Fort Lauderdale to benefit Kids In Distress. There is a $100 minimum fundraising goal.

12/5Coconut Cup South Florida Championship (Part III)

This third race of the Cannondale CCSFC will take place at Amelia Earheart Park in Hialeah.

12/5King Of Kendall (BMX Contest)

Hosted by Atmosphere Bikes, the contest starts at 4 pm (registration at 3 pm) at Westwind Lakes Skatepark. There is a $13 entrance fee.

12/10 – 12/12Tour of the Conch Republic

A weekend ride from Miami to Key West organized by the Everglades Bicycle Club. “Starting at Black Point Marina in South Miami Dade County you will ride through the back streets of Homestead leading to Card Sound Road, and onto AIA. In Key Largo we turn on the Jimmy Buffett music and pedal south towards the Conch Republic of Key West.” You must be an EBC member to participate, but you can join up at the event.

12/11Emerge Miami/Green Mobility Toy Drive Ride

The Green Mobility Network and Emerge Miami will be buying toys along the ride at Mack Cycle, the Bookstore in the Grove, and the Bayfront shops for the Marines Toys For Tots. The drop-off point is Lime Fresh Mexican Grill, which will throw in a free taco with any other food order.

12/18Tropical Cyclocross
You can participate in Cyclocross for an entry fee, or watch the action from the sidelines at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne. As this intense video promo indicates, this ride may not be for the casual cyclist.

12/194th Annual Miami Oleta Cyclocross

Again probaly not for the casual cyclist, the Oleta Cyclocross combines a bike race, steeplechase, and … waffles. There is a minimum $20 race entry fee

12/31Miami Critical Mass

Kick off your New Year’s Eve festivities with a leisurely ride through Coral Gables, Little Havana, and Downtown. It’ll make you feel better about the imminent binge drinking. (Click HERE to see our coverage of past Miami Critical Mass rides.)
