Blackall's Brown Bear

Made connections: Sophie Blackall and Craigslist.

On this week’s podcast, we give a shout out to Brooklyn-based illustrator Sophie Blackall, whose blog, Missed Connections NY, inspired Robby to start drawing Miami’s own near romantic misses (check out his first attempt: “Video Store”).

We also talk Florida Bike Month events, including the Bike Film Festival (March 17 – 20) and the Miami Bike Hunt, which we are hosting with Emerge Miami this Saturday afternoon (March 5). The ride already has about 75 RSVPs, and that was before we announced some of the prizes up for grabs: two pairs of free passes to ANR’s ‘Stay Kids’ release party Saturday night at Eve (formerly White Room), a few copies of the Miami duo’s new album, and coupons for free drinks at Sweat Records. We will also have FREE baked goods for everyone to scarf down after the ride. Suffice it to say, it is going to be a damn good time. Short of a torrential downpour and/or broken leg, you and yours should definitely make it out for the Hunt. RSVP on Facebook, or just show up Saturday afternoon.

You can subscribe to our podcast RSS feed, which includes a free mp3 download of each episode. If you have any suggestions — a person to interview (Charlie Sheen), an event to forecast (Sheen’s inevitable nude appearance at the next full-moon drum circle), a particularly good source of tiger’s blood (“winning”) — please email us at podcast@beachedmiami.com.
