Chromeo -- P-Thugg (top left) and David Macklovitch -- is bringing its steamy sound to Miami.

On this edition of the podcast Robby chats up one-half of the retro electro pop funk duo Chromeo, a gentleman named Patrick Gemayel at birth who later (one would presume several years later) took up the moniker P-Thugg. Self-described as “the only successful Arab/Jewish partnership since the dawn of human culture”, Gemayel and Chromeo lead vocalist David Macklovitch (aka Dave 1) are playing the Fillmore Miami Beach on Tuesday, Sept. 20 behind their 2010 LP, Business Casual. In true thug fashion, P-Thugg’s favorite place in Miami is Aventura Mall. On the podcast he explains his reasoning (it has to do with a mythical figure called the Pincho Man), talks about his and Macklovitich’s early funk band, the Rubadoid Crew, and explains why it was “really fun” to get locked up in a New Jersey jail. The cast also features clips from several Chromeo songs. In order: “Mamma’s Boy”, “Night by Night”, “I’m not Contagious”, “Grow Up”.
