He may be 65 years old, but when Bryan Ferry plays the Fillmore Miami Beach on Thursday, Sept. 29, you better hang on to your girlfriend. The former Roxy Music frontman is touring behind his 2010 release, Olympia, which featured Kate Moss on the cover and former Roxy mates Brian Eno, Phil Manzanara, and Andy Mackay, Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood, Flea of RHCP, and a host of other guest musicians. While the album proved that Ferry still has a tug on the modern ear, lascivious taste in cover girls (several of whom he’s uncovered in the past), and friends in high musical places, his gigs show he’s still got the charisma (and clothes) to command a stage.
Catching Ferry next Thursday will cost you the “what recession?” price of $51.00, but we’ve got two tickets to giveaway to one Ferry fanatic without a Ulysses to drop on the show. To enter to win the tickets, leave a comment on this post. We will announce the winner — decided in the whirl of a salad spinner — on Sunday morning. Until then, here’s Bryan Ferry doing the dashing Dionysus amid a veritable harem of sensual sirens in the video for Olympia single “You Can Dance”. Something tells me he’s going to like South Beach.
