Title: ‘Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos’ (Japan, anime/action-adventure, 110 minutes, unrated)
Synopsis: The anime movie Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos is based on the 2009 Japanese TV animation series “Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood” (Hagane no renkinjutsushi). A fugitive alchemist with mysterious abilities leads the Elric brothers to a distant valley of slums inhabited by the Milos, a proud people struggling against bureaucratic exploitation. Ed and Al quickly find themselves in the middle of a rising rebellion, as the exiled Milos lash out against their oppressors. At the heart of the conflict is Julia, a young alchemist befriended by Alphonse. She’ll stop at nothing to restore the Milos to their former glory — even if that means harnessing the awful power of the mythical Philosopher’s Stone. The movie is dubbed in English.

Title: ‘Happy’ (USA, documentary, 75 minutes, unrated)
Synopsis: Billed as movie and movement, Happy combines cutting-edge science from the new field of “positive psychology” with true stories of people from around the world whose lives illustrate these findings. We see the story of a beautiful woman named Melissa Moody, a mother of three who had a “perfect life” until the day she was run over by a truck. Disabled for nine years and disfigured for life, she is amazingly happier now than before her accident. Manoj Singh, a rickshaw puller from the slums of Kolkata, India, who lives in a hut made of plastic bags with his family, is found to be as happy as the average American. Through these and other stories, the film strives to lead us toward a deeper understanding of how we can all live more fulfilling, healthy, happy lives.
