Occupy Miami Beach Towel
By Jordan Melnick | May 28th, 2012 | 3 CommentsTo mark Memorial Day, artist and past Beached Miami contributor Misael Soto is laying out on a giant towel on Miami Beach “to subvert the way beach-goers claim their temporary real estate” on the national holiday, and he wants you to join him.
Located on one of Miami’s busiest beaches at one of the busiest times of the year, Beach Towel, a collaboration with nomadic art “space” the end, is Soto’s comment on wealth distribution in the United States and an attempt to foster “communal transcendence above the conditioning of capitalism.”
Everyone is welcome to “occupy and enjoy the towel” with Soto as he lays out until the sun sets on Memorial Day. To learn more about the project, visit the Beach Towel event page.
