I AM + HERO Anti-Sex Trafficking Community Photo Shoot

WHAT: CLOAK INC will be hosting its first “community” photo shoot event. The event offers attendees the opportunity to participate as models and spokespersons for its upcoming 2015 social initiative entitled, “I AM + HERO”. CLOAK INC will also take the opportunity to honor community leaders who are making strides in the battle to end sex trafficking here in Miami-Dade County and across the world. A portion of the proceeds will be presented to Life of Freedom Center, a Miami-based provider of restorative services for survivors of human sex trafficking. WHO: The highly anticipated “I AM + HERO” empowerment event will combine fashion, music, food, fun, and creative talks to raise awareness concerning sex trafficking here in Miami-Dade County.

YoungArts Presents Outside the Box Live Performance Series

On October 25, the YoungArts Plaza will come alive with a collaborative performance by Grammy Award-nominated cellist Dave Eggar and fellow YoungArts alumni Michele de la Reza, Kate Davis, Ernest Baker, Jake Goldbas, Andrew Nemr, Brittanie Brown and Allysen Hooks. From 7 to 9 PM, guests will also enjoy tasty treats from neighborhood favorites, JugoFresh and Bunnie Cakes, and lounge on furniture provided by IKEA. Ópera viva, Viva ópera

5K PARK Fest

iPads for Soldiers Walk a Mile in Their Boots Walk-a-thon

On Sunday, November 9 at 3 pm, join teams from all over South Florida to pay tribute to all of those who sacrifice so much for our freedom at “Walk a Mile in their Boots” on Key Biscayne, benefiting iPads for Soldiers. iPads For Soldiers mission is to purchase and donate iPads to US Soldiers serving in Afghanistan and those wounded stateside in military hospitals. The first 50 teams to register will be guaranteed a pair of war-torn combat boots to physically use during the walk. The walk is one mile located in the heart of Key Biscayne. Enjoy live entertainment on the stage including sets from DJ’s, singing and dance groups, marching bands, and so much more. Enjoy food and vendors of all kinds! Try the military obstacle course, have the kids bounce in the bounce house, explore the military vehicles, and much, much, more.

2014 Key West Film Festival

Making a mark on the film festival circuit and growing bigger each year, the Key West Film Festival is set to feature more than 35 films from Nov. 12-16 with a spotlight on Cuban cinema. Attending this year is famed director Leon Ichaso whose most memorable films include El Cantante starring Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, married at the time the film was made and portraying salsa singer Hector Lavoe and his wife Puchi and Pinero where Benjamin Bratt portrays poet/playwright/actor Miguel Pinero, a Latino icon whose urban poetry is considered to be the influence behind rap and hip hop music. The yet to be announced line-up is set to include films featuring America Ferrara from Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and television’s Ugly Betty, Patrick Stewart from the Star Trek and X-Men feature films as well as Oscar nominees Frank Langella and Glenn Close.
