With a 7″ due out in June and and a self-titled LP slated for a September release, Miami indie-rock trio Jacuzzi Boys are getting ready to take their show on the road with an East Coast to Midwest tour that starts on Friday with a gig at the Fillmore’s new in-house venue, Backstage at the Fillmore, a relatively intimate space (capacity 300-500) that is housed within the confines of the large concert hall itself. Ahead of the show Jacuzzi Boys frontman Gabriel Alcala and I exchanged emails about the Boys’ new music and hanging out at Iggy Pop’s home.

Sweatstock 2012 in photos

The torrential rain that threatened to show up didn’t. Iggy Pop did. So did hundreds of Miami music fans and the scores of bands and DJs that have made Sweatstock one of the best annual music events in Miami for the last three years. Many thanks to Sweat Records for making Miami one of the best places in the country to celebrate Record Store Day and for inviting Beached Miami to host a stage inside Churchill’s. As you can see from the photos, here and on Facebook, it was a blast.

Sweatstock 2012 is your chance to meet Ambassador Iggy.

We were already pumped to be co-curating the music lineup at Sweatstock 2012. Now that Iggy Pop is the official ambassador of Record Store Day 2012, which happens to fall on his 65th birthday, and will be visiting Sweat Records to mosh with the rest of us, WE ARE ALL-CAPS PUMPED!
