She Wolf Rears Its Head

I spotted Miami Beach’s mythical beast just after sunrise. Was she heading home for a well-deserved nap, sated on a dark smoothie of flesh and blood? Or was the day’s hunt only getting underway? Does the wild carnivore even ever rest?

Sadly, my questions remain. I gave chase, but the sleek beast eluded me. For now.

I was at a red light in Miami Beach and noticed this epithet gleaming on the back of a black Chevy Tahoe parked street-side. The car as vehicle for self-branding is a common motif in Miami, but this one stands out. The missus thinks “Wolf” is the owner’s Jewish surname and, seeing as I was near the Hebrew Academy close to spill out, she might be right. It could just be any of the number of little women driving big cars in Miami who take pride in their special lupine qualities, of which I’ve had the pleasure to encounter my fair share. But I’m sure she’s really a very nice lady.
