May is National Bike Month. Wear your bike pin proud. Or just ride your bike.

On this week’s podcast, we celebrate National Bike Month by reporting on the supercool designs that came out of ThinkBike, a recent brainstorming session between Miami and Dutch engineers who dared to re-imagine Miami in the image of Amsterdam and other urban cyclist sanctuaries around the globe. (Did you know the Dutch hop on bikes for 27 percent of their trips? The number is a measly one percent in the United States.)

We also spotlight a few of the many group bike rides this month, including the Beer Snob Bicycle Pub Crawl on Saturday and the Ride of Silence on May 18. Finally, we read an ode to the blessed bicycle by my favorite white-haired weirdo, Mr. David Byrne. “This point of view, faster than a walk, slower than a train, often slightly higher than a person, became my panoramic window on much of the world over the last 30 years . . . ”
